Eventful month!

We've had all sorts going on this month! I begun the month by trying to ward off the local cats who were bullying Jade, however instead of a quiet word in their ear and the threat of being grounded, I accidently put my fist through a window! Here is the damage...

On Monday, Jade caused us much heartache when she was hit by a car- who no doubt was not sticking to the 20mph speed limit! The driver didn't stop and Jade ran away injured to find a place to curl up. I knew nothing about the whole incident until a neighbour from across the road came over to tell me that at around 11am (about 3 hours before) she had seen Jade hit by a car! I was shocked and went looking for her. It was chucking it down with rain and having climbed over into the neibghbours garden there was no sign of her. I called Andy who came home and we both looked. Eventually we heard a noise that distinctly sounded like Jade. She was 2 houses down between a couple of fences dripping wet and unable to move! We got her straight to the vets who kept her in til Tuesday. She had fractured her pelvis but is now home and doing fine, unfortunately for her she is on a 6 week bed rest and has to be caged!!!! (On the plus side she got a new blinging bed and bowels!) Here she is...

On a more positive note, we have done a lot of work on the garden and now have a gravel path, table and chairs and a new BBQ! We've even been able to get out the new tea set for some familiar faces...

Back By Popular Demand!

OK, so it has been a while now and it has been noted by a few... no names...that I haven't blogged for a while! So here I am and here is a quick snippet of what you have all missed! (Promise me you won't be too disappointed!)

Mum and Dad's trip to Norfolk (March, 2007)

A trip to Ireland to visit my Grandma! (and for Andy to drink some guiness!)

Last Saturday, I took part in my first Race for Life with Mum C. I had a great time and can't wait to race again! (leading to much sighing and rolling of the eyes from my darling husband who is totting up the bill for each race!)

Sunday, my Auntie Fernanda fro Portugal came to visit and we took her to the Cherry Tree for Sunday lunch!

Scary in Oxford!

I have some more scary photos just in this morning that I have to share with the world! My good friend Marty who some of you may remember from the wedding- If I just say the one with the guy who looked like Hagrid and talked a lot (Sorry Mart but on this occasion Hagrid was more memorable for his never ceasing conversation! Next time belly dance while hanging from the top branch of an oak tree!) Anyway, he sent me these wonderful memories of my time in Oxford (not prison, just the city of…!)

Mighty Mart and his flexible folding legs!

...Hang on a minute! Aren't those Pauls legs!? And who's Dick!? Cos that 'aint his house!

Sarah - Yeah, but, no, but, shut UP! I never done nuffin'

Mart - Mate, you must have done somethin'! I felt the bench vibrate and I just know that stink 'aint the chicken!

That was all back in the days when I weighed a whole lot more and it was all about me! Jerry it's over to you...

Springer's final thought for the day!

SOME SAY that life is like Lego, and I guess they’re right. In my case I built a castle and a catapult in order to fling things at my brother.
In the centre of the castle was a throne with a Lego version of myself. I ruled over my medieval Lego land for many aeons, and the people who lived there led long and happy lives. All was peaceful, until my brother stole the wheels off my little Lego plague carts, and the infrastructure of my kingdom was unable to cope with the massive increase in unburied bodies.
Conditions got worse. Dozens of little Lego corpses lined the streets, rotting away like nobody’s business. The economy of the Lego world I had ruled over for so long collapsed. I fled the kingdom that night - quietly slipping away to the Royal docks to board my yacht and head for somewhere with a warmer climate and a healthy exchange rate. In the final analysis, this Lego lesson rings true even today. I think we all agree that even in some tiny way we should use our catapult more wisely in case our brother tries to steal some Lego wheels off us. I know I do. Good night and remember, Do take care of yourselves and each other.

Busy!

I've been so caught up in my placement that I have completely neglected my blog for a couple of weeks! I am loving the ward I'm on at the moment. The staff are fantastic and I finally feel like a nurse! Just wish I didn't have to go through another year and a bit before qualifying!

So anyway here's a rundown on what we've been up to...

17/02/2007

Trip to Holkham with H & P. It was lots of fun and I will never look at country girls or townies the same ever again! (private joke! Ask me about it and I'll try and make it sound as funny as it was!) Unfortunately Pablo (Townie 1) wasn't wearing correct attire and so had to be rescued from the ocean by his beloved Helena!

Here we all are, minus my chin! (Andy's camera skills- legendary!)

18/02/2007

We visited the lovely Kate for the first time (and Andy and Ruth!) This is how impressed she was...

I was going to carry on filling you in on my exciting life but I realised that my life just isn't that exciting and to make stuff up is against my principles! So there it will have to stay. Goodbye and I hope you all leave this page as unimpressed as little Kate!

P.S I suppose you all know the rules about not wearing uniform away from the hospital and certainly not while cooking..!

...BUSTED!

Valentines at the Cracknells!

Love is in the air..!

So for valentines day we headed to the Slightly older Cracknell's residence for a delicious meal of curry and some of Momma Cracknell's famous chicken lasagne! We were blown away when Poppa Cracknell bought each of the lady's a rose to take home! It's great that some still show a little romance for the day. Andy and myself are quite hum buggish about the whole affair making a pact not to get each other anything! That's not to say we're unromantic, but do we need a prescribed day to show each other...and clinton cards... we care!? (Oops i just remembered a certain person I know who manages a card shop! I should be showing support! Sorry Pabs I will buy one next year!)

Anyway, ignore my rantings here's some reasons to celebrate Valentines!

1. To make fun of single friends by sending them unsigned cards and listen to them go through every ex boyfriend they've ever had, wonder about the old man who lives on the corner, and finally contemplate actually confronting those who made it to the final suspects list. All the time silently giggling to yourself about the fools they are making of themselves!

2. If you're the sort of person that has to check your calender each morning to tell you what day, month and year it is. Valentine's day can act as a reminder to show romance. Without the calender reminder you may well go another 365 days without showing any sort of romance to your partner at all!

3. The roads are quiter! (Not sure about this one, it's probably the single people that are usually out anyway!)

..Ok this was just more proof that I have too much time on my hands. Here are some phone pics (Hence the quality!) of the evening. Great expression by the way, Pabs!

Just as a final note, I wanted to post a pic of my banofee pie (with a strawberry twist!) I made yesterday, I was so proud of it!

Scary 3!

And here is a run down of my sporting career! At the age of 6 I was a fine ballarina with a promising future ahead. The only thing getting in my way, according to my ballet teachers, was that I kept trying to incorporate the 'Back-flip' into my ballet routines. This was most frowned upon in the ballet world...

...So Mum and Dad decided that maybe gymnastics was for me! They took me along to the local sports centre gym class.

I didn't stay there long though, as I was 'spotted' by a coach there, who pursuaded my parents to part with their lives and money in return for my joining her gymnastics club and becoming a pro! (ok, maybe I'm exaggeraing a little now!)

Many competitions and squad training days later! This was the last competition I competed in before I discovered boys and freedom, The rest is history...

I have just watched this film on DVD and it's great. Its about an ex-gymnast who is a rebel and gets in trouble with the law. Her punishment- to return to an elite gymnastics club full of bitchy gymnasts! It brought me back a bit! Ah the memories...

Scary 2!

I'm really on a roll now and want to share my dark and distant past with you all. Item no. 2 in the scary collection is of some significance! This is me and my brother Andrew in Greenwich Park exactly 16 years to the day befor I met my wonderful husband in the same location! (The question is would we have ever made it to a second meeting had he seen me in those 'My Little Pony' spectacles!? I shoulda gone to spec savers!

Scary!

Ok, so here's a scary pic of me and Steph, before Andy, John and Katie! and also before my tattoo!

And no, that's not the same dress I wore to the ball on Friday!

Saturday 10 February 2007

Proclaimers Ball!

Proclaimers ball this year really was an awesome event. It was also a special birthday for Pastor Tom, who celebrated his 50th birthday and will soon have been married to Denise for 25 years! The entertainment was hilarious and it was great to see so many people there, both church members and lots of tag alongs! We had invited John, Steph and Katie and it was great to get all frocked up! (the boys had dresses prepared but hearing they would be refused entry reluctantly donned their best tux!)

Steph did a fantastic job of my hair...

At the end of the evening, we got some fantastic news. Exhausted from some serious moves on the dance floor, we got into our PJs and pumped up the airbed. All of a sudden Steph made an announcement! She's 10 weeks pregnant! Yay!!! The signs were all there... no drinking... loss of appetite! Congratuations! Hugs all round! And here's the moment we heard..

Finally, for those who read my book review, here's some breaking news, Mr Andrew Cracknell from the book , 'A Cracking Life' has been taken to a local magistrates court this weekend, facing charges relating to flying an aircraft without due care and attention, causing a crash and damage to the tail end of the Jet Ranger! When questioned in court over the incident, he claimed that the equipment failed and the Jet Ranger just headed nose down to the ground. The case continues this week. Here is Mr Cracknell in the court room...

Book Review

Time for a book review! This weeks books follow an addiction theme, both have a happy ending!

This book is an inspiration. Cupcake brown enters the welfare system at the age of 11 when her mother dies. She is neglected and abused by those whose care she is placed into and develops an appetite for drugs and alcohol. Her addictions take her to a life of turning tricks and the world of a gangsta.

After one particularly bad crack binge she wakes up behind a dumpster half dressed and more than half dead. She hears Gods voice and finally knows she has to change!

This book tells the story of Andrew Cracknell, who from a young age develops a love of aircraft. His father, a Norwich plane spotter, sparked his interest by taking him to airshows when he was a boy. He remembers these times fondly, particularly an incident in which he was standing in front of his father and was knocked out when his father dropped his binoculars on his head!

At 20, he begins his career as an apprentice at Sterling Helicopters and quickly progresses to fully qualified engineer. At the age of 26 he finally falls in love and marries a girl from London who unfortunately has no interest in aircraft of any kind! However with love and patience he shows her what it means to him and as a first Christmas present to him, she buys his very first remote control helicopter. A heart warming tale with many funny incidents along the way.

Sunday 4 February 2007

I've been busy for the past couple of weeks, but just to update, last Saturday we started the morning at Dunstan Hall meeting Lord and Lady Southgate for coffee! Here they are...

Oops, wrong couple, here they are...

Weekend of Romance!

Our plans for the weekend changed when we heard that Martin and Gaz couldn't make it for the weekend, so instead I started planning a day of romance for myself and my (still) new husband! The day got off to a wonderful start with the smell of baking bread making us. After breakfast in bed and showers we mad our way to Mundesley beach. We took a look around the village (this took about 2 minutes as there were about 6 shops in all!) and we raided the Oxfam store. It felt wrong to walk away with such bargains and still have change for lunch! Andy told me about a burger bar he used to go to with Harley boy, so we ordered 2 deluxe burgers and enjoyed the scenery...

We had a lovely stroll along the beach. The skies were blue and the sun was shining. It was cold, but with my recently purchased 50p mittens keeping me warm it was a beautiful day for it!

We arrived home and finished the evening with a romantic candlelit dinner, bath and massage..! And that's all you need to know!
